Joe T. Millsaps

Attorney at Law (Retired)

A native of Mooresville, NC and a “Double Deacon” graduating from Wake Forest University for both undergrad and law school, Joe Millsaps, was a member of the Mecklenburg County and North Carolina Bar Associations, the North Carolina State Bar, formerly member of both the American Association for Justice and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers. He began practicing in Charlotte in 1961, where he practiced with small firms over the first 28 years of his career. In 1989, he began his own practice, The Law Office of Joe T. Millsaps, and was the sole attorney in the firm until 2005 when he was joined by Ashley Bratton.

Joe was admitted to practice in North Carolina in 1961, the U.S. District Court in 1967, the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1977 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1994. Mr. Millsaps retired from the practice of law in October of 2022 but continues to be a valued asset to the firm and his community.

Ashley Elizabeth Bratton

Attorney at Law

A native of Concord, NC Ashley Bratton is a graduate of Appalachian State University and Loyola University – New Orleans College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2004. Ashley was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in the spring of 2005 and joined Joe Millsaps in the practice of law in the fall of 2005. In the summer of 2011 Joe and Ashley formed the partnership Millsaps & Bratton, PLLC. Ashley is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association.

Ashley’s primary practice areas are Residential and Commercial Real Estate, Small Business formation, Estate Administration and Will and Trust drafting.
